Back in 2006, a friend of mine showed up with a Housequake CD/DVD (at the time consisting of Roog, Erick E and MC Gee). Back then, this was truly something new. A full one-hour DVD featuring live footage from various performances, seamlessly mixed together and enhanced with visuals. Something that is completely normal nowadays, but in 2006, this must have been an enormous project! And an enormous project it certainly was. The way the CD was mixed couldn’t have put the Dutch house scene on the map any better. From powerful beats to funky sounds, even if you weren’t a fan of house music, there was a good chance you’d become one after listening to this CD or watching the DVD. To this day, this mix still instantly gives me inspiration and a strong sense of nostalgia. Over the past twenty years, there hasn’t been a single time I’ve played this mix without immediately feeling good. One particular section of the CD has always stuck with me. It was put together so perfectly, and the different tracks fitted together so incredibly well, that twenty years later I decided to create my own reconstruction mix of it, just for myself. And now, I’m happy to share it with all of you! The reconstruction mix is now available on my YouTube, SoundCloud and Audius channels. Enjoy listening, and enjoy those wonderful nostalgic good vibes!
